This week, U.S. Representative Victoria Spartz, a Republican from Indiana, declared that she will not be serving on any committees of the House Republican Conference during her next term.

“We need to make some adjustments and govern for a change. Thankfully, my party will be in power the following year, but regrettably, it doesn’t want to make the adjustments,” Spartz stated in an interview with USA TODAY Network’s IndyStar.

She stated on X that she intends to keep her Republican registration and is excited to collaborate with Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk on President-elect Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.

“I want President Trump to be a great president, because I want my party to put the money where mouth is and deliver,” Spartz told the Indianapolis Star.

Congresswoman Spartz represents Indiana’s 5th District, which includes Anderson & Marion and the region northeast of Indianapolis. In January, she will take the oath of office for her third term.

Since her initial election in 2020, Spartz has made numerous demonstrations against the federal government’s operations in Washington, D.C., including this announcement.

For instance, in late 2023, Spartz threatened to resign from Congress if lawmakers failed to form a commission to examine the national debt.

Spartz declared she would not run for a third term in early 2023, but she changed her mind shortly before the filing date in early 2024.

She ran against eight other candidates in the GOP primary and gave herself three months to convince voters of her position.
