Trump Picks Herschel Walker to Be Ambassador to the Bahamas
Herschel Walker, a professional football player, has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the United States ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
“Congratulations, Herschel!” Trump wrote in a note that was posted on Truth Social Tuesday evening. Georgia and the entire country will be proud of you because we know you will always prioritize America.
How Trump Described Herschel Walker
The former football player was described by Trump as “a tireless advocate for youth sports.” During Trump’s first term, he co-chaired the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.
Herschel has been “serving as an Ambassador to our Nation’s youth, our men and women in the Military, and athletes at home and abroad” for decades, according to Trump.
Walker, a former NFL great, is now a philanthropist, businessman, and Heisman Trophy winner.
“Herschel has traveled to over 400 Military installations around the World, removing the stigma surrounding mental health,” Trump said in reference to Walker’s work raising awareness of mental health issues.
“As a member of the U.S. bobsled team, he represented the United States at the 1992 Winter Olympics,” Trump continued.
