Claim Your Social Security Check in Just Hours – Here’s How You Can Get Paid Fast

There are some adjustments to Social Security payouts in December. Even though the Social Security administration publishes a calendar every year that details the dates on which you will get your benefits, it can occasionally surprise you when a regular payment schedule that you have been accustomed to is altered.

Additionally, the cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) figure will be applied to certain beneficiaries’ payments this month. There are minor adjustments to the typical Social Security payment schedule in other months besides December.

Supplementary Security Income (SSI) recipients typically get paid on the first of every month.

On the other hand, because the first of December happened on a weekend this year, SSI recipients received two payments in November: one for November and one for December.

However, SSI beneficiaries will continue to receive a payment in December 2025, as January 1st is a federal public holiday. But it’s crucial to keep in mind that this “bonus” payment is only for January. On December 31st, beneficiaries will get their money.

The COLA rise that you can anticipate in all of your 2025 payments will be reflected in these payments. You will still receive your first 2025 payments on January 3rd, though, if you receive both Social Security and SSI benefits.

Check if you Eligible for a bonus payment this month

If you are still uncertain if you will receive a bonus payment this month, you can verify which payments you can anticipate by looking at the following schedule:

Dec. 31: The January 2025 benefit will be reflected in the new cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that SSI recipients will receive.

Jan. 3: On this date, people who received both Social Security and SSI or who filed for Social Security prior to May 1997 will see their new 2025 COLA in their benefits.

January 8: With this payment, those born on the first through the tenth of the month will receive their adjusted COLA.

January 15: On this date, recipients who were born between the 11th and the 20th of the month will receive their new COLA.

January 22: This payment will raise the cost of living for anyone born between January 21 and January 31.
