Israeli Forces Raid Kamal Adwan Hospital in Northern Gaza, Leaving Parts of the Facility in Flames

Israeli forces on Friday carried out a raid on the Kamal Adwan Hospital, located on the northern edge of Gaza, ordering the evacuation of dozens of patients and hundreds of others from the facility. The attack left parts of the hospital ablaze, according to officials from Gaza’s Health Ministry.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that contact had been lost with staff inside the hospital in Beit Lahiya, an area that has been under heavy pressure from Israeli forces in recent weeks. “The occupation forces are inside the hospital now, and they are burning it,” stated Munir Al-Bursh, the ministry’s director.

Meanwhile, Israeli strikes across Gaza claimed at least 25 lives on Friday, including 15 members of a single family in Gaza City, according to medics and emergency services.

The Israeli military defended its actions, stating it had taken measures to protect civilians, patients, and medical staff by facilitating their “secure evacuation” prior to the operation. However, the military provided no further details.

Hamas-appointed Deputy Health Minister Youssef Abu El-Rish accused Israeli forces of setting fire to the hospital’s surgical department, laboratory, and a storage facility, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the besieged region.

The Palestinian presidency, in a statement released through the official news agency WAFA, condemned the raid as a “serious crime” and a blatant violation of international law. The statement emphasized that international conventions mandate the protection of medical facilities and personnel during armed conflicts.

This latest incident highlights the escalating humanitarian toll of the conflict, with medical infrastructure increasingly targeted amid ongoing hostilities.
