Motorcyclist Airlifted Following Crash on U.S. 1 in Miami-Dade
A serious crash involving a motorcyclist on U.S. 1 prompted an air rescue and temporarily blocked traffic in the area on Thursday.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported that it responded to the scene near mile marker 124 in the southbound lanes after receiving a medical call about a motorcyclist who had been involved in a crash. “Air rescue is en route, and it looks as if U.S.-1 will be closed to be used as a landing zone,” the fire department stated shortly after arriving at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that the motorcyclist, an adult trauma patient, was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center for treatment. Details about their condition have not yet been released.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions as emergency responders worked to clear the scene and facilitate the air rescue. The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.
Motorists traveling along U.S. 1 were advised to seek alternative routes during the temporary closure and to exercise caution while driving in the area. Emergency responders emphasized the importance of driver vigilance, especially during high-traffic hours, to prevent such incidents.
Further updates on the motorcyclist’s condition and the ongoing investigation are expected as more information becomes available.
