Man Pushing Wheelchair Dies in Devastating Semi-Truck Crash on Australian Ave

The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) reported that at 4:53 a.m. on December 28, a 911 caller alerted authorities to a crash at the intersection of Palm Beach Lake Blvd. and Australian Ave. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to investigate and provide assistance, as the situation appeared to be a serious accident. Details surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
According to police, paramedics swiftly transported the critically injured pedestrian to the hospital, where efforts were made to stabilize him. Unfortunately, his condition worsened rapidly, and despite medical attention, he passed away around 8 a.m. that same morning. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Detectives from the Traffic Homicide Unit have reported that a 2022 Kenilworth, driven by a woman from Palm Beach Gardens, was traveling north on Australian Ave. as it approached the intersection with Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. At that moment, the vehicle struck a man who was crossing the marked crosswalk while pushing a wheelchair.
Investigators have confirmed that the tractor-trailer had a green light when the collision occurred. Currently, no charges have been filed, and the case remains under investigation by authorities.
