Miami-Dade jail records confirmed these charges, and Reyes is now in custody as the investigation continues. The incident has left the local community in shock, as the young child was taken in broad daylight while engaging in a normal outdoor activity.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, the disturbing incident took place on Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of the 1300 block of Northwest 79th Street. This area in northwest Miami-Dade became the site of the abduction, which has since sparked widespread concern and prompted an ongoing investigation by law enforcement officials.

On the afternoon of the incident, the 6-year-old boy was happily playing soccer in the front yard of his family’s home with his older brother. However, things took a disturbing turn when the older brother briefly went inside the house to use the restroom. During this moment, the young boy was approached by 56-year-old Jose Reynaldo Martinez Reyes. According to police, Reyes struck up a conversation with the child and offered to join him in a game of soccer. Through this interaction, he managed to convince the boy to leave the safety of the yard. Reyes allegedly promised to buy the boy a toy, which persuaded the child to walk away with him on foot.

When the older brother returned from inside the house and found that his younger sibling was no longer outside, he quickly realized something was wrong. Feeling alarmed and worried, he immediately began searching for his brother. He enlisted the help of an adult family friend, and together, they launched a frantic and urgent search throughout the area, hoping to find the missing child as quickly as possible.

The 6-year-old boy and Jose Reynaldo Martinez Reyes were eventually located more than a mile away from their home, walking together along the roadway, hand in hand. Police reported that when the older brother spotted them, he confronted Martinez Reyes. In response, Reyes claimed that the young child was his own and attempted to physically struggle with the older brother over the boy. However, the older brother managed to free his sibling and quickly got him into a waiting vehicle, ensuring his safety.

Once the child was secure, the family immediately contacted authorities, and police swiftly responded to the scene. Officers took Martinez Reyes into custody, and after confirming that he was a stranger to the 6-year-old, he was arrested and booked into jail on charges related to the abduction.

Miami-Dade Police are still investigating the incident and seeking further information about Martinez Reyes or any details related to the case. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
