The advent of 2025 brought several rises to the economic sector in the United States. Still, one is welcome: the minimum wage will reflect increases that will help around 9.2 million individuals in 21 states beginning January 1. According to the Economic Policy Institute, 20% of the 9.2 million employees who would benefit live in impoverished living circumstances, with the remaining proportion earning very low poverty wages. Although the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, numerous states have passed raises that surpass that amount. One of them is Florida, which has had yearly rises since 2020.

The minimum wage objective in Florida is $15 per hour:

In the 2020 election, a constitutional amendment was enacted by vote to raise the minimum wage annually to $15 per hour. On September 30, the minimum wage in Florida reached $13 per hour. While other states will see increases beginning January 1, Florida will have to wait until September 30 to continue the gradual growth and reach $14 per hour, bringing it closer to the goal of $15 per hour by 2026. Starting in 2027, Florida’s minimum wage will be raised annually for inflation, and no company may retaliate against workers who exercise their right to the minimum wage as specified in the 2020 amendment, according to FloridaCommerce. Meanwhile, the minimum wage for workers who earn tips will rise by one dollar to $10.98 an hour.
