According to family members on Thursday, the Road Ranger who was hit and killed on Interstate 95 on New Year’s Day was a devoted father and son who was always willing to provide a hand. His wife Staci’s superhero was Jose Parra. “My husband was a Road Ranger, a superhero,” she stated. “Loved his job, loved to help everybody around him.” He was vivacious and affectionate.

Staci Parra remembered. “Very goofy, loving, family-oriented,” she said. “Loved being home with me and our three dogs … very happy.” Above all, though, Jose was always ready to lend a hand. According to his wife, “He would see someone on the street stranded.” “He would always jump into action and help anybody.” After being struck by a motorist on I-95 in Hollywood, the 28-year-old, who had been a Road Ranger for the previous year, passed away early on Wednesday morning. “It’s hard – very, very hard,” admitted Staci Parra. “I wake up and he’s not next to me.”

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred shortly after 3:30 in the morning. Jose Parra and two state troopers were responding to a collision when two more vehicles traveling south on I-95 collided, according to investigators. According to officials, a chain reaction occurred when one of the vehicles was forced into the express lane, struck the concrete wall, and then struck Parra’s pickup truck from behind. Parra was standing outside the car when the pick-up struck one of the FHP vehicles, which in turn struck another cruiser.

Jose’s father, Javier Parra, stated, “I just want justice, I just want justice,” “We were more than just father and son; we were really close. I had a pal named him. He was everything to me. The family was informed by investigators that the driver who caused the fatal collision had been intoxicated. That has not been verified by FHP. “She was basically intoxicated, drunk, coming home from a party, it seems like,” said Staci Parra. Five months ago, the pair tied the knot. According to Staci, her husband’s ambition of becoming a fireman was never realized. “(I’m) very angry,” she said. “People need to be more aware of their surroundings.” The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help cover Jose’s funeral arrangements.
