Early on New Year’s Day, a man who appeared to be inspired by the Islamic State organization (IS) crashed into crowds in New Orleans, Louisiana, killing 14 people and injuring at least 35 more.

All About the suspect: Shamsud Jabbar

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, a US Army veteran who was honorably discharged, has been identified as the suspect. The driver, identified as Jabbar from Houston, was a former member of the US Army who was also in the Army Reserves, Biden confirmed.

He warned against assuming anything and stated that the probe is still ongoing. “The intelligence community and law enforcement are still searching for any links, affiliations, or conspirators.

“At this time, we have nothing more to report,” Biden stated. The Pentagon claims that Jabbar was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010 and has over 10 years of military experience as an IT and human resources professional.

Jabbar, who lived in Houston, Texas, where he had been a real estate agent, graduated with a degree in computing from Georgia State University.
