Weekend Weather: From Rain to Roars

The next 48 hours are packed with action:

  • Saturday, January 4: Breezy conditions with increasing clouds. Expect scattered showers in the afternoon. High around 63°F (17°C), with evening lows near 60°F (16°C).
  • Sunday, January 5: The intensity ramps up with partly sunny skies turning stormy.
    • Storm Threat: Severe thunderstorms could bring flooding downpours, hail, damaging winds, and even isolated tornadoes.
    • Temps: High near 76°F (24°C), dropping sharply to a frigid 40°F (4°C) overnight.

Early Week: Arctic Air Moves In

After the storms pass, the Arctic chill sets in:

  • Monday, January 6: Windy and much cooler with sunny skies. Highs will struggle to reach 47°F (8°C), and lows will dip to 36°F (2°C).
  • Tuesday, January 7: The cold snap lingers. Bright sunshine, but highs only around 49°F (9°C) with another frosty night at 36°F (2°C).

Severe Weather Alerts in Place

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 10:00 PM CST Saturday to 6:00 AM CST Monday. Expect:

  • Heavy Precipitation: Snow and sleet accumulations of 3–8 inches and ice buildup of up to 0.2 inches.
  • Travel Troubles: Roads could become hazardous or impassable, especially Monday morning.
