A Tamarac lady who was hit and murdered immediately after stepping off a bus has been recognized by the authorities.

On Monday afternoon, the incident took place close to the intersection of University Drive and West McNab Road.

Katherine Campbell, 23, had just gotten off a Broward County Transit bus and was crossing West McNab Road when she was hit by a GMC Arcadia, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office officials.

According to BSO police, Campbell was hit by the front passenger side of the SUV while she was jogging crossing the street in front of it. The driver of the SUV stopped at the site.

Campbell was taken to Broward Health Medical Center by Tamarac Fire Rescue, where she was declared deceased.

“Detectives say the location where Campbell was struck was outside of a designated pedestrian crosswalk and eastbound traffic had a green light,” the BSO stated in a statement on Wednesday.

“Neither excessive speed nor impairment of the driver are considered contributing factors to the cause of the crash.” Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
