Brace Yourself! What South Jersey Needs to Know About the Early January Storm
Businesses, local government offices, and schools have all taken precautions as the South Jersey region continues to be covered with snow.
The last few days before this storm, forecasts have been inconsistent. The amount of snowfall in South Jersey may vary by county.
So far, this is what we know. The weather as of right now South Jersey snow totals are being reported to the National Weather Service.

The snowfall is still going on and is predicted to continue all day.
There is a lot of snow on the roadways, and some townships in South Jersey might not start plow work until the snow accumulation reaches a specific point.
Forecast for snowfall in South Jersey
In South Jersey, the amount of snowfall varies by county. The following is a list of potential weather conditions as reported by the National Weather Service:
3-6 inches in Atlantic County.
2-4 inches in Burlington County.
2-4 inches in Camden County.
4 to 8 inches in Cape May County.
4–8 inches in Cumberland County.
Total snowfall in South Jersey Snowfall totals reported to the Courier-Post and the National Weather Service include the following: As of 11:35 a.m., there had been six and a half inches of snow in Atlantic County.
Governor of New Jersey declares a state of emergency
In preparation for this snowstorm, governments, schools, and other organizations remained closed. Phil Murphy, the governor of New Jersey, proclaimed a state of emergency.
For the safety of their citizens, the leaders of Cumberland County, Burlington County, Atlantic County, and Cape May County each declared that their government offices and other public facilities would be closed.
While hospitals in the region are expected to stay open for anyone experiencing an emergency, a Veterans Affairs center in Vineland closed for the day.
As of right now, schools that were closed today should reopen tomorrow, however there may be a delay.
