Urgent Alert: Tornado Warning Issued for Pickens County – Take Shelter Now
We refer to days when the weather will alter your usual schedule as “Impact Days.” A powerful Arctic front is sweeping into North and Central Alabama on Monday and Tuesday, making them Impact Days.
Due to the possibility of icy weather in the area, Friday and Saturday are designated as impact days.
Advice For Winter Weather
Roads in North Alabama may become slick due to small snow accumulations brought on by snow showers. Please use caution, particularly when you’re on higher ground.
Cullman, Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, and DeKalb counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory through 7 p.m.
Tuesday and Monday
Bitterly cold air will be driven into Alabama by a vigorous northwest wind of 15 to 25 miles per hour as the Arctic front surges through the state early Monday.
At daybreak on Monday, the temperature will reach its peak (in the 50s), and it will continue to drop throughout the day. By Monday afternoon, when the air temperature is in the 30s, the wind chill will drop into the 20s and 10s.
Timing
From Monday through Tuesday, extremely chilly air will affect us throughout the day.
Impact
The wind chill will drop into the 10s and 20s starting late Monday morning and continuing into the afternoon and evening. On Tuesday morning, the temperature can drop as low as 10 to 15 degrees.
