A severe cold front has delivered chilling wind chills to southeast Texas, and temperatures are predicted to stay near or below freezing until Thursday morning. Residents should prepare for ice conditions and take precautions to safeguard themselves and their belongings.

Wind Chill Values Near 20°F Expected Through Midweek

Weather Update:

According to the National Weather Service, wind chills might drop as low as 20°F, making early mornings extremely dangerous. A Cold Weather Advisory is in force until 9 a.m. Tuesday, with frost and freezing temperatures expected to return overnight into Wednesday. Drivers on key routes, like I-45 and I-10, may expect ice spots and poor visibility during early commutes. Officials warn drivers to slow down, remain aware, and maintain emergency kits in their vehicles.

Temperature Variations Day-by-Day:

The extended prediction suggests that temperatures will rise over the weekend. Wednesday will be partly overcast, with a high of 43°F and gusts up to 20 mph. Showers are predicted Thursday afternoon and overnight, with highs about 44°F and lows in the mid-30s. By Friday, the sky will stay gloomy, with the possibility of another round of showers. Sunshine is forecast to return Saturday, with highs about 54°F.

Tips to People:

Residents should dress warmly, avoid extended outside exposure, and keep their pets indoors. Wrap outside faucets and leave inside taps dripping overnight to prevent pipes from bursting. Check on senior neighbors and make sure heaters are operating securely.
