Caribou, ME Forecast: Prepare for Blowing Snow

6

Throughout Thursday, northern Maine will have blustery gusts and sporadic snow showers, making travel in certain areas of Aroostook County dangerous.

Patchy blowing snow caused by northwest gusts of up to 40 mph will make local roadways less visible. By Thursday evening, snow showers will taper off, and another inch or two of snow may fall, according to the Caribou National Weather Service.

Although Thursday’s high is expected to be 32ยฐF, wind chills will keep the temperature feeling much lower. On roads with potentially poor visibility, such as U.S. Highway 1, drivers should use caution.

The weather will be calmer on Friday, with highs close to 30ยฐF and largely sunny skies. The gusty weather from Thursday will somewhat subside when the winds drop to about 15 mph.

There is a remote probability of snow returning on Saturday, particularly in the evening. Light accumulations are anticipated, with daytime highs of about 27ยฐF. With highs close to 30ยฐF and lows of 16ยฐF at night, Sunday is expected to stay cold and largely overcast.

Although early forecasts indicate little impact, Monday or Tuesday might bring the next big likelihood of snow.

Residents are advised to stay warm and keep an eye on National Weather Service updates for any changes in the weather. If you are driving through northern Maine this week, be sure to pack emergency supplies in your car.
