Southeast Texas is experiencing rain and gusty winds of up to 40 mph, particularly around the coast, due to the arrival of a strong storm system.

Coastal communities are under a wind alert, which warns of possible consequences like isolated road closures and small flooding.

The heaviest winds are predicted to occur in the evening and early Friday morning, with gusts forecast to rise during the afternoon.

Heavy rainfall is predicted, with totals of 1 to 2 inches inland and 3 to 4 inches around the coast.

The area will be saturated with rain continuously between 5 and 10 p.m., when the most intense rain is predicted.

The region is at a marginal risk of excessive rainfall, according to the Storm Prediction Center, which raises concerns about flooding in regions that are already at danger.

The storm is predicted to subside by Friday morning, bringing with it drier weather for the weekend.
