Carson Beck Transfers to Miami After Leaving Georgia, Declaring for 2025 NFL Draft
Cam Ward, the quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes, has been replaced. Carson Beck, a former quarterback for Georgia, said on X that he had committed to Miami to finish his college career. Beck accessed the transfer portal on Thursday, despite having declared for the 2025 NFL draft. He will replace Ward, who will be selected in the 2025 draft, in Miami a day later. Beck played his final five seasons at Georgia, where he was a two-year starter and earned two national titles. He took up the position in 2023 and finished as a starter with a 23-3 overall record.
Despite having a better 2023 season than 2024, he was still a valuable member of the Bulldogs. In 2024, he passed for 3,485 yards, 12 interceptions, and 28 touchdowns. Following surgery, he missed the team’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal defeat to Notre Dame after suffering a UCL injury in his elbow during the SEC Championship Game versus Texas. After Ward had a tremendous season and placed fourth in the Heisman Trophy race, Miami went 10-3. In 2026, Beck hopes to continue where Ward left off by reviving his draft stock.
