Boston’s Arctic Nightmare: Record-Breaking Cold to Hit Next Week – Are You Ready?

0

This week, New England is experiencing extremely low temperatures, and Thursday is predicted to be no exception. Early next week, forecasters are keeping an eye on what might be the season’s coldest air. The Boston National Weather Service predicts that between Friday and Saturday, temperatures may momentarily moderate. By Saturday afternoon, forecast highs will rise to seasonable levels, hitting the low to mid-40s. The reprieve won’t last long, though, as a major cold front is expected to arrive by Monday.

Much of Massachusetts, including Boston, is expected to experience nightly lows in the teens and 20s this week, according to the weather prediction. Worcester saw lows of about 14 degrees early on Wednesday, and Thursday is expected to bring more of the same. Single-digit lows may return by the following week, especially inland, with wind chills below freezing.

Residents should be ready for dangerous conditions brought on by excessive cold, according to meteorologists. Long-term exposure can cause hypothermia or frostbite. Bring dogs inside and make sure the pipes are insulated. On the coldest nights, check on your neighbors who are at risk. Before the anticipated Arctic outbreak next week, warmer air will momentarily come despite the cold. As weather conditions change, the National Weather Service stresses the importance of remaining informed about the most recent forecasts. Residents are being advised to limit their outdoor activities during the coldest hours of the day and to bundle up.
