Florida cracks down on illegal immigration
At the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Winter Haven, Governor Ron DeSantis gave a speech on Wednesday morning regarding illegal immigration. Attorney General Ashley Moody, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Polk Sheriff Grady Judd, and Dave Kerner, director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, joined the governor. According to DeSantis, Florida has implemented significant improvements since he came to office, including broad measures to safeguard citizens like picture identification and employment.
“Florida is prepared to take charge. “Florida has a unique opportunity to help facilitate the end of America’s immigration crisis with President Trump taking office,” the governor stated on Wednesday. DeSantis stated that they are contacting the incoming administration to “end the illegal immigration crisis in the United States” on the day of the inauguration. He has allegedly discussed the mission with President-elect Donald Trump and stressed the importance of state and local support for him to finish it. DeSantis continued, “No problem has been more prominent on the radar.” “All hands must be on deck.”

DeSantis declared that a state immigration officer will be assigned to supervise this matter, which will involve deporting immigrants and pursuing gangs. “Floridians must come first,” he said.
The following are included in his proposed legislation:
- Maximum participation in the 287(g) deportation program should be mandated, and noncompliance will result in sanctions, such as official suspension.
- Create a self-deportation procedure and a state felony for unauthorized entry into the United States.
- Designate a specific officer to manage collaboration with the Unauthorized Alien Transport Program (UATP) and federal authorities.
- Increase UATP’s capacity to hold and assist in the deportation of undocumented immigrants from the United States.
- Include more hazardous illegal alien groups in the legal scope of gang-related activity.
- Removing in-state tuition for students who are undocumented immigrants
- Demand proof of U.S. citizenship and Florida residency in order to register to vote.
- Raise the penalties for undocumented foreign nationals who provide fraudulent voter registration information or commit voter fraud.
- Require identification verification before sending money overseas.
- Deny bail and establish a rebuttable presumption that illegal aliens pose a flight risk.
- Detaining illegal aliens must start right away, according to Ashley Moody, in order to support the federal administration and uphold the law.
- Sheriff Judd declared that our governor is a leader.
Judd went on to say that Florida must lead by example in enforcing Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration policies. He mentioned a number of immigrants who had been detained for violent and fatal offenses in Polk County.
