The Sacramento Family First pilot program, which began distribution on December 15, 2024, and will end on November 15, 2025, will seek to support the well-being of children in eligible families while reducing economic inequality. The second payment is due on Wednesday, January 15, for recipients who get help by direct deposit to bank accounts connected to tax returns.

The Sacramento Family First pilot program offers guaranteed compensation to parents or legal guardians who care for African American, American Indian, and Native American children aged 0 to 5.One of the prerequisites for being one of the 200 families in the pilot program is to fulfill particular income thresholds and have verified residency in the state. Eligibility is based on yearly household income, with the maximum monthly income determined by the number of persons living in the same family. For example, if just one person lives in the family, the maximum income is $30,000 until 2025; if two people reside in the household, it climbs to $40,000; if three people live in the household, it is $50,000; and if four or more people live in the household, the limit is $60,000.
