Another huge addition for World Series champs

Despite having an abundance of talent on the roster, the Los Angeles Dodgers appear to be adding even more. After signing free-agent left-handed reliever Tanner Scott earlier this week, the Dodgers are reportedly completing a deal with right-handed reliever Kirby Yates, according to an official with knowledge of the situation. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the transaction is still pending a medical and is not yet official. Every day, you’ll get the latest sports news, from NFL plays to college sports scores. Yates, a two-time All-Star, resurrected his career after missing the full 2021 season and part of 2022 due to elbow surgery.

He is now 37 years old and has a 1.17 ERA with 33 saves for the Texas Rangers past season. Yates led the major leagues in saves in 2019 with the San Diego Padres, but an elbow injury in the shorter 2020 season necessitated Tommy John surgery. From 2019 until 2022, he pitched just 11 ⅓ innings before returning to his pre-injury form as a setup man for the Atlanta Braves in 2023. After signing a one-year contract with the Rangers, Yates succeeded in his return to the closer role, earning his second All-Star selection by converting 33 of 34 save opportunities and holding opponents to a.113 batting average in 61 2/3 innings.
