‘Bout to shoot this dumb ahh school fam’: Student accused of threat in Coral Springs

An 18-year-old Coral Springs Charter School student is facing a felony charge after police allege she made a shooting threat on Snapchat. On Tuesday, Coral Springs police arrested Tamarac resident Rachell Diane Varela Gomez on a second-degree offense of making written threats to murder or injure someone. According to the police complaint, Varela Gomez wrote, “I’m dead a– bout to shoot this dumb ahh school fam not on no troll shi” between noon and 12:15 p.m. that day.

The FBI notified Coral Springs police about the threat shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, according to authorities. According to the complaint, the threat originated on the school’s campus at 3205 N. University Drive . The remainder of her arrest report was redacted. Varela Gomez, pictured with firmly pursed lips in her Broward Sheriff’s Office mugshot, was being held on a $10,000 bond at the agency’s Main Jail as of late Wednesday afternoon. According to jail records, her bond is “pending” and she will be monitored electronically if freed.
