Two small children who were in SUV stolen in Miami-Dade found safe
Two tiny children who were inside a stolen SUV in Miami-Dade were recovered safe on Wednesday, according to authorities. Miami-Dade According to Sheriff’s Office officials, the vehicle and children were recovered shortly after being stolen in northwest Miami-Dade. According to Detective รngel Rodrรญguez, a mother went inside a store at Northwest 50th Street and 71st Avenue and left her SUV running. The woman’s two- and six-year-olds were in the backseat. Detectives say that’s when someone, or more than one person, fled with the white Mitsubishi SUV. “It only takes a split second for someone to steal a vehicle,” Rodriguez told reporters. “Unfortunately it happens too often.”
A Virginia Gardens police officer discovered the abandoned SUV less than a mile away. The youngsters were safe inside the vehicle. “There is a good indication that when the vehicle was stolen the subjects did not know that there were children in the car and we’re hoping that’s why the vehicle was left abandoned,” Rodriguez explained to reporters. Detectives believe the narrative may have ended differently, making it an important reminder. “So many times we go to different ATMs or a store for a second and come back, it’s that one second where someone if they want to make a victim out of you will take an opportunity to make a victim at that time,” Rodriguez pointed out. Anyone with information on the event or the subject’s whereabouts can contact Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 (TIPS).
