Man Arrested in Connection to Fatal Shooting of Teen in Lauderhill
LAUDERHILL — A man accused of fatally shooting an 18-year-old in Lauderhill has been arrested, police announced Friday.
Nerlyn Polycarpe, 29, faces multiple charges, including premeditated murder and carjacking with a firearm or weapon. The charges stem from an incident on Nov. 24, when Lauderhill Police responded to a shooting at the 2400 block of Northwest 41st Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, 18-year-old Jimir Murray, in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Murray was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following an investigation, authorities identified and apprehended Polycarpe, who is now in custody. Details about the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
Officials have not released further information, but the Lauderhill Police Department has urged anyone with additional details about the case to come forward.
