Residents Return Home After Sunrise Neighborhood Buildings Deemed Safe
Days after being forced to evacuate their homes due to safety concerns, residents of the Grenadier Lakes at Welleby in Sunrise can finally return. The city announced that repairs had been completed, temporarily strengthening the buildings initially deemed unsafe by engineers. Following discussions with the engineer, all “Unsafe Structure” notices have been removed.

The sudden evacuation last Friday left many residents in shock and distress. Among them was Bailey Harris, who received the news while at work. “This has probably been one of the most emotionally overwhelming things I have ever had to deal with in my entire life,” Harris said. “I left work and immediately got emotional because I realized I might lose everything.”
Contractors were given a tight deadline—Monday at noon—to complete the necessary repairs. Had the work not been finished and approved by the HOA’s engineer, residents would have faced temporary housing arrangements until further repairs were made.
Now, with their homes declared safe, residents can breathe a sigh of relief and begin the process of moving forward after this unexpected ordeal.
