Danville Police Arrest Convicted Felon on Gun and Assault Charges

After receiving a complaint of an armed person on N. Walnut Street, Danville Police arrested a convicted criminal on Friday. About 3 p.m., witnesses said they saw a man at a house brandishing a gun. With help from the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, officers were able to obtain a search warrant. During the search, police reportedly found an illegal handgun and identified the suspect as Jerrod Dyson, 41, of Danville. Dyson was under mandatory supervised release at the time of his arrest, and authorities verified that he is a convicted felon.

Dyson was taken to the Public Safety Building by the police. He is charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unauthorized possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the Danville Police Department reminded the public.
