17-year-old girl stabbed boyfriend to death while ‘horseplaying’ after grabbing knife for protection because she couldn’t find her pepper spray
A 17-year-old Florida girl is in jail after she killed her boyfriend by stabbing him in a parking garage when they were allegedly “horseplaying” with a knife a few days before Christmas. Jahara Malik is charged with manslaughter with a dangerous weapon in connection with the death of 17-year-old Yahkeim Lollar in Miami on December 20, according to court documents. She has a $50,000 bond and is currently in the Miami-Dade County jail. Following a report of a stabbing in the parking garage at Lollar’s apartment complex in the 6100 block of Northwest Sixth Court, Miami police arrived, according to an arrest document obtained by local ABC affiliate WPLG. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he passed away.
On the day in question, Malik was scheduled to go shopping with a buddy, according to the affidavit. According to the affidavit, she grabbed a knife before leaving because she couldn’t find the pepper spray she usually used for defense. She headed to the parking garage to meet Lollar when she finished her shopping. She managed to stab him in the chest when they were “horseplaying.” Malik is accused of dropping the knife in the parking garage on surveillance footage. According to reports, some of Malik’s police statement was removed from the affidavit. A few weeks later, a medical examiner declared the death to be a homicide.
Her lawyer pointed out at a bond hearing that Malik remained to provide assistance following the stabbing. According to the attorney, Malik had never been arrested before to this incident. The stabbing was unintentional, the lawyer told CBS station WFOR. According to WTVJ, an NBC affiliate, Malik will face adult charges. Darveed Lollar, the victim’s father, stated that the stabbing was unnecessary. He told WPLG, “They killed my boy by someone just playing.” They stated as much. They were having fun. Despite being aware that Malik was the murderer, the family has been angry that it took so long to get her arrested. “They couldn’t find something to charge her with the night of when there was no question as to what happened or who done this, so I mean it’s, right now, it’s a little bittersweet,” his mother Darveed Lollar said.
