Teen Accused of Killing Boyfriend Seeks to Move to Port St. Lucie While Awaiting Trial

Miami, FL – Wearing a mask and surrounded by family, 17-year-old Jahara Malik appeared in court on Thursday as her attorneys sought permission for her to relocate to Port St. Lucie while awaiting trial. Malik faces an adult manslaughter charge for allegedly stabbing and killing her 17-year-old boyfriend, Yakheim Lollar, during an argument on December 20 near Northwest 6th Court and 61st Street.

During the hearing, the victim’s family expressed outrage over the defense’s argument that the stabbing was accidental. Lollar’s mother, Nathalie Jean, dismissed the claim, stating, “Her whole defense is horseplaying. Who horseplays with a knife? You are learned as a kid that you don’t play with sharp objects, right?”

Malik was previously granted house arrest during a bond court hearing last weekend, a decision that Lollar’s family strongly opposed. They continue to seek justice for their son, emphasizing the severity of the crime and the tragic loss of a young life.

The court has yet to rule on whether Malik will be allowed to move to Port St. Lucie as she awaits trial. The case has sparked intense emotions from both families, with legal proceedings expected to continue in the coming weeks.
