The PlayStation Network (PSN) experienced a worldwide outage on Friday night, which caused many PlayStation users to have connectivity problems. The interruption started at approximately 5:20 p.m. ET, according to Down Detector, and it peaked at 5:49 p.m., when over 68,000 complaints were recorded. Server connection failures accounted for 78% of reports, followed by login problems (19%) and other functionality faults (3%). Many gamers were anticipating using PlayStation’s online services as they made their way home from work or school at the time of the outage. Customers complained about issues accessing account administration tabs, connecting to buddy lists, and making purchases on the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct. On its official PlayStation Network page, Sony acknowledged the issue and said, “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

All PlayStation devices, including the PS5, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and web-based platforms, were affected by the service outage. Those who tried to log in were greeted with the error notice “PlayStation Network is currently undergoing maintenance (WS-37432-9).” The only choices were to ignore the notice or go to PlayStation’s support website. Affected gamers used Down Detector and social media to share their experiences, even though Sony did not immediately disclose the reason for the outage. Nearly 70,000 people had reported the problem on Down Detector by 6:00 p.m. ET, indicating that the interruption was widespread.

Sony has not yet revealed the reason behind the outage or given an estimated timeframe for when services will be fully restored. Regarding whether the interruption was caused by maintenance, technical difficulties, or other causes, no additional information has been provided. Users are encouraged to visit PlayStation’s official website for more information as the crisis is still ongoing.
