Violent Sex Trafficking Ring Exposed: Texas Man Arrested in Miami Beach

A man from Texas was taken into custody in Miami Beach after authorities reported that he had allegedly coerced his girlfriend into engaging in prostitution and later assaulted her when she failed to recruit additional women into the operation.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Michael William Benjamin, was arrested on Sunday and now faces multiple serious charges. According to Miami-Dade jail records, these charges include armed kidnapping, human trafficking, and deriving financial support from the proceeds of prostitution. In addition, he has been charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery by strangulation.

According to the arrest report, the incident began in the early hours of Sunday when law enforcement officers were dispatched to the Sherry Frontenac Hotel, located on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. Authorities had received a report about a man who was found lying on the floor, unconscious and bleeding. Upon arrival, officers assessed the situation and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Michael William Benjamin lying unconscious in a hotel hallway. He had sustained head trauma, and there was visible blood on his neck and torso. Nearby, police also found a woman who appeared to have been physically assaulted. She had blood on her hands, a bloody nose, and multiple bruises on her face, arms, and legs. Additionally, officers observed significant swelling around her neck, indicating possible strangulation.

According to the victim’s account, she had been in a three-year relationship with Benjamin. She explained that the two of them had traveled from Texas and had been staying in South Florida for the past 22 days, moving between multiple local hotels.

The woman further alleged that Benjamin had brought her to Florida with the intention of forcing her into prostitution. She stated that she struggled with alcohol abuse and that Benjamin used this vulnerability to manipulate and control her. According to her, he made alcohol easily accessible to her as a means of coercion, keeping her dependent and under his influence. The victim further disclosed that on the day of the incident, Benjamin had forced her to have sex with two clients. She also alleged that earlier that morning, he had held her down and raped her. Later in the day, when she failed to recruit additional women for prostitution as he had demanded, he became violent. She recounted how Benjamin began beating her, punching her repeatedly, and strangling her while threatening to kill her.

During the assault, she managed to fight back by kicking him off her, causing him to lose balance and fall backward. As he fell, he struck the sharp corner of a dresser, suffering a deep cut on the back of his head and losing consciousness.

When officers searched the couple’s hotel room, they found it in a state of disarray. The room contained various items associated with prostitution, including condoms, pieces of lingerie, and sexual paraphernalia scattered throughout.

Both Benjamin and the victim were transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Following his hospitalization, Benjamin was formally taken into custody and booked into jail.

On Monday, Benjamin, a resident of Addison, Texas, appeared before a judge for his initial court hearing. The judge ordered that he be held without bond and issued a strict order prohibiting him from having any contact with the victim.
