Third Suspect Arrested in 2023 Murder of 15-Year-Old in Miramar
Miramar, FL – Authorities have arrested a third suspect in connection with the 2023 murder of 15-year-old Joel Vilsaint, who was found fatally shot in the head in Miramar last year.
Julecia Samantha Farris, 23, was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, according to Broward jail records. Miramar Police confirmed on Tuesday that her arrest is linked to the tragic killing of Vilsaint, who was discovered in the 1800 block of S. Hiatus Road in March 2023. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Farris’ arrest follows that of another suspect, De Sean Phang, who was recently tracked down and taken into custody in Colorado. Authorities have not yet released further details about his extradition or role in the crime.
With Farris becoming the third suspect charged in the case, police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Vilsaint’s death. Officials have not disclosed whether additional arrests are expected or what motive may have led to the fatal shooting.
As the case unfolds, law enforcement urges anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
