Disability Payments of Up to $1,580 Are Coming in February – See If You Qualify

29

If you receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), your February 2025 disability payment is on the way. Depending on your situation, your monthly benefits could range from $696 to $1,580.

So, who qualifies, when will the payments arrive, and how can you make sure you’re receiving the right amount? Here’s what you need to know.

How Much Will You Get?

Your monthly disability payment depends on which program you qualify for:

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

  • The average payment is $696 per month.
  • This program is for people with low income and limited resources who are disabled, blind, or over 65.
  • You don’t need a work history to qualify, but your income and assets must be below a certain limit.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

  • The average payment is $1,580 per month.
  • This program is for people with a serious disability that prevents them from working.
  • To qualify, you must have worked and paid into Social Security long enough to earn benefits. Your payment amount is based on your lifetime earnings before your disability.

When Will You Get Paid?

Your payment date depends on which program you’re enrolled in and your birth date.

SSI Payment Date

  • If you receive SSI, your February payment will arrive on February 1, 2025.
  • If the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, you’ll receive your payment the previous business day. This means for February 2025, payments will be sent on January 31.

SSDI Payment Dates (Based on Your Birthday)

  • If your birthday is between the 1st and 10th, your payment arrives Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
  • If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th, your payment will be sent Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
  • If your birthday is between the 21st and 31st, you’ll receive your money Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

If you’ve been receiving SSDI since before May 1997, your payment will be sent on February 3, 2025, regardless of your birth date.

How to Make Sure You’re Getting the Right Amount

If you think your disability payment is too low, you might be eligible for additional benefits. Here’s what to check:

  • Look at your benefit letter – Log into your My Social Security account to see how much you should be receiving.
  • Report any income changes – If your income has gone down, you might qualify for a higher SSI payment.
  • Check for additional assistance – Some states offer extra disability payments on top of federal SSI. Contact your local Social Security office to see if you qualify for more.
