Drivers Alarmed by Safety Hazard on Palmetto Expressway Amid Construction

40

Motorists traveling on the Palmetto Expressway have voiced concerns about a new construction project that they believe poses a serious safety hazard. Many drivers have reported being caught off guard due to the lack of proper signage or warnings about unexpected road obstacles.

The issue stems from steel plates protruding from the road at the on-ramp from SR-826 north to the I-75 ramp toward Naples. With ongoing construction at the Palmetto and I-75 interchange, drivers are encountering an unanticipated obstacle that forces them to suddenly slow down or brake.

Aerial footage captured by Chopper6 shows vehicles bouncing and jolting as they pass over the large steel plates with orange edges. Many drivers worry that the lack of proper warnings could lead to accidents or vehicle damage.

Authorities have yet to respond to these concerns, but motorists are urging officials to install clear signage and safety measures to prevent potential crashes and ensure a smoother, safer commute.
