‘I was crying in my car’: Neighbors urge drivers to slow down after fatal crash in Pembroke Pines

One person was killed in a crash in Pembroke Pines on Valentine’s Day, and at least three others were hospitalized. Neighbors who have been in collisions at the same intersection are now advising other motorists to reduce their speed. Just before 7 p.m. on Friday, a two-car collision occurred on Dykes Road and Northwest 12th Street, and according to Pembroke Pines Police, speed played a role. Neighbors claim that automobiles frequently exceed the speed limit in the area. Gabriela Martins remarked, “I was crying in my car.” ‘Mom, what’s going on?’ my son asked. As she normally does, Martins was traveling home on Dykes Road on Friday.

According to her, “I saw the smoke coming off the car and then people started coming out of the cars.” According to authorities, at least three individuals were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, and one person passed away on the spot. The collision reminded Martins of a personal issue. According to her, “the accident was pretty much the same overspeed in traffic light.” The 12th anniversary of her cousin’s death, who also passed suddenly at the age of 18 in a vehicle accident about a mile away, will fall this coming week. Harold Milien told NBC6 that he had been in his own accident two years prior while traveling down the same route. “My back will never be the same because I’m still recovering from that accident,” he stated.

Milien was hardly able to walk due to a herniated disk. He claimed that as soon as the woman struck him, her car caught fire. Milien told NBC6 that his mother was in a different accident nearby and that he was unable to work for seven months. “Just as you arrive at Towngate, my mom was about to turn in when the other car swerved and struck her,” he claimed. Like Martins, Milien stated that they take driving seriously and hope that others share their sentiments. Neighbors are urging drivers to be extra careful when driving on the road, especially since the area is mostly residential.
