Arctic temps hit parts of US, prompting Extreme Cold Warnings

“Extreme Cold Warnings” have been issued from North Dakota to Oklahoma Tuesday night due to the crippling Arctic temperatures that have reached the center of the country. The National Weather Service issued a warning this year that the Northern Plains might have life-threatening wind chill values of about 60 degrees below zero, while the Southern Plains would experience sub-zero wind chills through Wednesday. As new snow covers Nebraska through Virginia, strong, gusty winds combined with below-freezing air temperatures will create severe wind chills through Wednesday.

In the upcoming days, cold air will plunge over the Southeast and all the way to Texas. A section of the United States was under an Extreme Cold Warning. Due to a storm track that has favored the northern tier of states for the past few weeks, this winter blast is the first of its kind this month. In the upcoming days, the cold air will be able to plummet all the way to Texas and across the Southeast thanks to the little shift to the south. A somewhat cooler forecast pattern is anticipated for a few days after Thursday’s cold front, even though South Florida won’t become too chilly. By Friday morning, low temperatures will drop into the upper 50s thanks to this front, which is the strongest the region has seen in weeks. The weekend will see near-normal temperatures as afternoon highs settle into the lower to mid-seventies.
