A Florida man is facing serious charges, including attempted murder and attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, after shocking footage captured him running over a Lauderhill Police officer and another individual with an SUV, authorities said.

Suspect Identified as Terence Eugene Powell Jr.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Terence Eugene Powell Jr., has been charged with:
• Attempted murder
• Attempted murder of a law enforcement officer
• Aggravated battery

The violent incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Sunset Strip and University Drive in Sunrise, Florida.

Incident Unfolds in Shocking Sequence

According to an arrest report, the officer was stopped at a red light in his marked police vehicle when Powell, driving a blue Nissan Rogue, rammed into the officer’s vehicle from behind. Moments later, Powell intentionally struck the officer’s vehicle a second time.

When the officer stepped out of his vehicle to assess the situation, a witness approached him to offer help. That’s when Powell accelerated and ran over both the officer and the witness, sending them flying through the air before they landed in a nearby parking lot.

Tesla Camera Captures Disturbing Footage

A Tesla camera at the scene recorded the horrifying moment, clearly showing both victims being run over. But the attack did not stop there.

Powell drove into the parking lot, turned around, and deliberately hit the officer again as he lay on the ground, the report states. He then reversed and attempted to strike the officer a third time but narrowly missed and crashed into a tree.

Arrest and Investigation

After the brutal attack, Powell fled the scene in the damaged Nissan Rogue. Authorities from Lauderhill and Plantation Police later located the SUV about four miles away, near the 4700 block of West Sunrise Boulevard. Powell was taken into custody without further incident.

Law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed a motive for the attack. Meanwhile, the officer and the injured civilian were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly released.

Powell now awaits legal proceedings as the investigation continues.
