A woman and a teenager were arrested Wednesday during a police investigation into narcotics sales at a well-known corner market in Little Havana. Authorities executed a SWAT-led raid at El Rincon Market and Smoke Shop, uncovering drugs and other evidence tied to illegal activities.

Large Police Presence at the Scene

A significant law enforcement presence was spotted outside El Rincon Market, located near Northwest 35th Avenue and Seventh Street, just across the street from a high school. Police officers, alongside the SWAT team, executed a search warrant at approximately 11 a.m., carrying out multiple boxes and bags of evidence.

“This is a place that was selling narcotics, and in order for us to be able to obtain a warrant and an arrest warrant we have to go to a judge who has to see the evidence that we’ve gathered,” said Miami Police spokesman Michael Vega. “Sometimes these investigations can take weeks before we obtain this warrant.”

Two Suspects Taken Into Custody

Authorities detained two individuals at the scene and took them in for questioning. Video footage captured a woman holding a child as she exited a police vehicle, highlighting the concerning environment in which the illegal activities were allegedly taking place.

Additional Seizures During the Raid

Alongside narcotics-related evidence, detectives also confiscated gambling machines from the business. The special investigations unit was seen hauling away various items, suggesting that illicit gambling may have also been occurring at the location.

“We also take any evidence that will help us prove our case,” Vega added. “And in this case, you’ll see the detectives were also confiscating items from the business that will help us in our case.”

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to build their case against the suspects.
