Scammer Alert: Fake Immigration Officer on Bike Arrested for Threatening Deportation
A man accused of impersonating an immigration officer and harassing people he believed to be in the country illegally has been arrested, according to police. Authorities say the suspect rode around on a bicycle, confronting individuals he assumed were undocumented, demanding immigration documents, and threatening them with deportation.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, allegedly wore clothing resembling law enforcement attire and carried a fake badge to intimidate his victims. Witnesses say he specifically targeted people of Mexican descent, pressuring them to prove their legal status and, in some cases, attempting to extort money in exchange for “letting them go.”
Police launched an investigation after receiving multiple complaints from residents who reported being stopped and harassed. Several victims described feeling frightened and confused, believing they were dealing with a real federal agent. Law enforcement officers tracked down the suspect and took him into custody, charging him with impersonating a federal officer, harassment, and attempted extortion.

Authorities have made it clear that immigration enforcement is strictly handled by federal agencies and warned the public to be cautious of scammers posing as officials. Advocacy groups have expressed outrage over the incident, calling for more protection against individuals who prey on vulnerable immigrant communities.
Officials are asking any additional victims to come forward as the investigation continues.
