Millions to Receive $943 in March – Check If Your SSI Payment Is on the Way

2

If you or someone you care for relies on Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you might be wondering when the next payment is coming and how much you’ll get.

In 2025, SSI benefits increased slightly due to a 2.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA). The maximum monthly payment is now $943 for individuals, but not everyone qualifies for the full amount. Also, payment dates can shift depending on the calendar.

Here’s everything you need to know about who qualifies, how much you can receive, and when to expect your March 2025 SSI payment.

Who Qualifies for SSI?

SSI is a program that helps low-income individuals who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled. Some caregivers who provide daily support to an SSI recipient may also qualify for extra financial assistance.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be 65 or older, blind, or have a qualifying disability
  • Have limited income, usually less than $1,913 per month for individuals
  • Have limited assets, generally below $2,000 for individuals or $3,000 for couples
  • Be a U.S. citizen or meet specific legal residency requirements

If you care for someone who gets SSI and live with them full-time, you could qualify for an extra $484 per month under the “essential person” program.

How Much Will You Get?

The amount you receive depends on your income, living situation, and state of residence.

For 2025, the federal SSI payments are:

  • $943 per month for individuals
  • $1,415 per month for couples
  • $484 per month for an essential person (a live-in caregiver who qualifies for support)

Some states provide additional SSI benefits, so depending on where you live, you may get more.

When Will You Get Paid in March 2025?

SSI payments are usually sent on the 1st of each month. However, if that day falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are made on the last business day of the previous month.

  • March 1, 2025, falls on a Saturday
  • This means SSI payments will be sent on Friday, February 28, 2025

If you have direct deposit, your money should arrive in your bank account on that date. If you receive a paper check, it may take a few extra days to arrive by mail.
