Driver Airlifted After Semi-Tractor Trailer Overturns Near Alligator Alley
A semi-tractor trailer rollover near Alligator Alley on Saturday morning led to a dramatic rescue operation, with the driver being airlifted to a hospital after suffering serious injuries.
Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts
The Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue (BSFR) responded to the accident near Mile Marker 40, where they found the overturned semi-truck with the driver trapped inside. According to officials, the driver had suffered significant leg injuries, making the extrication process particularly challenging.

Rescue teams worked for approximately 90 minutes to free the driver from the wreckage. Once successfully removed, the victim was immediately airlifted to Broward Health Fort Lauderdale. While his injuries are serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening.
Investigation Underway
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has taken over the investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities have not yet released details about what led to the rollover or whether any other vehicles were involved.
With the investigation ongoing, motorists are advised to remain cautious while traveling in the area.
