Ex-Convict Arrested for Alleged Armed Rape and Kidnapping in Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade police have arrested a man accused of raping a 66-year-old woman at gunpoint inside her own home, just weeks after being released from prison. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Larry James Grant-Rogers, was taken into custody after his own sister contacted authorities, officials said.

According to an arrest report, the horrifying incident unfolded around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim had stepped outside her home to tend to her garden, leaving her front door unlocked. After finishing her gardening, she returned inside to take a shower. However, as she entered the bathroom, Grant-Rogers allegedly appeared suddenly, grabbed her from behind, and pointed a pistol in her face.

Despite the woman’s desperate pleas—telling the attacker she was sick and begging him to stop—Grant-Rogers allegedly forced her into her bedroom and raped her. He then tied her hands and feet before moving her back into the bathroom, the report states.

Authorities were alerted when Grant-Rogers’ sister contacted the police, leading to his swift arrest. He now faces multiple charges, including armed sexual battery, kidnapping, and armed burglary.

The case has sparked outrage in the community, with many questioning how a recently released convict was able to commit such a heinous crime. Investigations are ongoing, and officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary safety precautions.
