Shocking Discovery! Bronx Woman Found Stuffed in Suitcase—Ex-Boyfriend Arrested

41

Bronx, NY – The search for 26-year-old Pamela Alcantara ended in tragedy when police discovered her body stuffed inside a suitcase near the Saw Mill River Parkway on March 6. Authorities have charged her ex-boyfriend, Junior Perez Diaz, with her murder.

What Happened?

Pamela Alcantara was last seen in the early hours of March 2 at her apartment on Morris Avenue in the Bronx. She was on a FaceTime call with her mother at the time and mentioned plans to attend a church event in Connecticut later that day. But when she never showed up, her family grew concerned.

After failing to reach her, her loved ones reported her missing. When they went to check her apartment, they noticed disturbing signs of a struggle, especially around the bed she had shared with Diaz.

The Chilling Discovery

Investigators tracked a vehicle linked to Diaz using a license plate reader near the Saw Mill River Parkway. When police searched the area, they found a red suitcase in a shallow marsh. Inside was Pamela’s body.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Who is the Suspect?

Junior Perez Diaz, 46, was Alcantara’s ex-boyfriend. He was taken into custody shortly after police discovered her body and has now been charged with murder, manslaughter, and kidnapping.

Family members revealed that Alcantara had recently broken up with Diaz after a three-year relationship and was planning to move out of their shared apartment. They also claimed Diaz had been stalking her, placing recording devices in her car and bedroom.

Community in Shock

The news of Alcantara’s tragic death has shaken the community. A candlelight vigil was held outside her apartment, organized by the Latin American Chaplain Association (LACA). Many who attended described her as a devoted churchgoer and a kind-hearted person.

Pastor Fernando Cabrera, who led the vigil, said, “She was a young woman who lived for her faith. This loss is devastating.”

Her family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and transport her body to the Dominican Republic, where she will be laid to rest beside her younger sister.

What’s Next?

Authorities are still investigating the case, and the medical examiner will determine the official cause of death. Diaz remains in custody as he awaits arraignment.

This heartbreaking case has also sparked discussions about domestic violence, with advocates urging anyone in danger to seek help.
