Ex-Cuban Spy Busted in Florida! The Reason Will Shock You

11

Federal authorities have arrested a former Cuban intelligence officer in Broward County, Florida, on charges related to fraudulent U.S. residency. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been made public, was taken into custody on March 12 by agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the FBI.

According to law enforcement sources, the individual is accused of lying to obtain legal permanent residency in the United States. Officials say the arrest was part of an ongoing effort to identify and remove individuals who may pose security threats.

What We Know About the Arrest

The suspect was apprehended in a neighborhood near Weston, Florida, and is now in federal custody. Sources from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) say authorities will soon release the individual’s identity along with possible video footage of the arrest.

“This is an administrative arrest, meaning the suspect will now go through a legal process to determine if they obtained their residency fraudulently,” an ICE official said.

Why This Matters

The U.S. government has been cracking down on individuals linked to foreign intelligence services, especially those from countries like Cuba, which has a history of espionage operations against the United States.

This arrest comes just over a year after former U.S. ambassador Manuel Rocha was arrested in Miami. Rocha, who served as a diplomat for decades, was exposed as a longtime covert agent for Cuban intelligence. His case was described as one of the most significant foreign infiltrations in U.S. history.

A Pattern of Cuban Espionage?

This isn’t the first time a former Cuban intelligence officer has been arrested in the U.S. In 2019, Saúl Santos Ferro, another ex-Cuban agent, was convicted of lying about his military past to obtain permanent residency. He also illegally received Social Security benefits. After serving six months in prison, Santos was deported in 2024, but Cuba refused to take him back, leading to his return to Miami.

What Happens Next?

The current case is under review by federal authorities in Washington, D.C. Investigators are looking into whether the suspect committed additional crimes beyond immigration fraud. As the legal process unfolds, more details are expected to emerge.

This arrest is a clear sign that U.S. officials are keeping a close eye on individuals with ties to foreign intelligence. It raises important questions about national security and the effectiveness of America’s immigration screening process.
