Florida Woman in Convertible Leads Deputies on Wild Chase – Again!

16

A Florida woman who was already out on bond for fleeing law enforcement found herself back in handcuffs after leading deputies on yet another high-speed chase.

Authorities in Polk County say 35-year-old Kristin Ann Mittelstadt of Frostproof was behind the wheel of a silver Ford Mustang when deputies attempted to pull her over on Masterpiece Road around 5:09 p.m. on March 6. Instead of stopping, Mittelstadt hit the gas and took off.

Deputies tried to stop her again a short time later, but she refused to pull over. Given her reckless driving, officers used a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver to stop the vehicle safely.

A Familiar Offender

When deputies took Mittelstadt into custody, they discovered she was already out on bond for similar charges—fleeing from law enforcement and driving with a suspended or revoked license. To make matters worse, her driver’s license had been revoked since 2009.

A search of her vehicle also turned up methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, adding to the list of charges she now faces.

Charges Piling Up

Mittelstadt is now facing multiple charges, including:

  • Fleeing to elude law enforcement
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Driving with a suspended or revoked license

She was booked into the Polk County Jail following her arrest.

Repeat Offenders and Public Safety

Cases like this highlight concerns about repeat offenders and whether current legal consequences are strong enough to prevent people from committing the same crimes. Despite already being out on bond for nearly identical offenses, Mittelstadt’s actions show she wasn’t deterred from trying to flee again.

Law enforcement officials often emphasize how dangerous high-speed chases can be, not just for officers, but for innocent drivers and pedestrians as well. The use of the PIT maneuver in this case was a strategic move to end the pursuit before anyone got hurt.

What Happens Next?

Mittelstadt’s arrest raises questions about how the justice system handles repeat offenders, especially those who disregard court orders and public safety. As her case moves forward, prosecutors will likely consider her previous charges when deciding on her sentence.

For now, she’s back behind bars, but it remains to be seen if this will finally be the wake-up call she needs.
