Massive Rainstorm Hits New Hampshire: But That’s Just the Beginning!

12

New Hampshire residents are waking up to a wet and dreary start to the week as a powerful rainstorm moves through the region. But if you think this rainy Monday sets the tone for the entire week, think again. Major changes are on the way, from sunny midweek weather to a potential return of snowflakes by the weekend.

Monday: Downpours and Flooding Concerns

Today’s biggest weather story is the rain. The National Weather Service is warning that heavy rainfall could cause localized flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage. Roads and highways may see standing water, so drivers should use caution. Temperatures will peak around 55°F (13°C) this afternoon, making it a relatively mild day despite the rain. However, once the sun sets, temperatures will drop quickly to around 31°F (-1°C), bringing a chilly overnight freeze that could create icy patches on wet roads.

Midweek: A Welcome Break with Warmer Temps

After today’s soaking rain, New Hampshire is in for a much-needed break. Tuesday will bring sunshine and a high of 58°F (14°C), making it the perfect day to dry out. The nighttime low, however, will dip to a chilly 29°F (-2°C), so keep that coat handy. Wednesday looks just as pleasant, with a mix of sun and clouds and another high near 58°F (14°C). But by Thursday, clouds will start rolling in again, and there’s a chance of scattered afternoon showers. Temperatures will hover in the low 50s, and nighttime lows will stay in the upper 30s.

Late Week Cool-Down – Could We See Snow Again?

Just when you start thinking spring has arrived, Mother Nature has a surprise in store. By Friday, the temperature will drop, and some parts of New Hampshire could even see a rain-snow mix in the morning before the skies clear out. Winds will pick up, and highs will struggle to get past 43°F (6°C). Overnight, expect a brisk low of 27°F (-3°C), making for a cold start to Saturday. The weekend will feel much cooler than midweek. Saturday’s high will be around 53°F (12°C), but with cloudy skies and afternoon breezes, it won’t feel quite as warm. Sunday will be even chillier, with highs in the mid-40s and a crisp overnight low of 25°F (-4°C).

What New Hampshire Residents Need to Know

With such a wild mix of weather ahead, here’s what to watch for:

  • Today’s Rain: If you’re out driving, watch for flooded roads and be cautious of standing water.
  • Midweek Warm-Up: Enjoy the sunshine, but keep a jacket for the chilly mornings and nights.
  • Weekend Cool-Down: Don’t put away that winter gear just yet—cold air and even a bit of snow could make a return.

New Hampshire’s weather is proving once again that it’s anything but predictable. Stay prepared, stay informed, and get ready for a week of big changes!
