Blue Angels Stun Sacramento: You Won’t Believe These Jaw-Dropping Airshow Stunts!
Sacramento, CA – The roar of jet engines and the thrill of high-speed maneuvers filled the skies over Mather Airport this past weekend as the California Capital Airshow made a spectacular return. The biggest draw? The legendary U.S. Navy Blue Angels, back in Sacramento for the first time since 2019.
Thousands of fans packed the airfield to witness breathtaking aerial performances featuring top-tier military aircraft, historic warbirds, and heart-stopping aerobatics. From high-speed fighter jets to vintage planes honoring aviation history, the show had something for everyone.
The Blue Angels: A Showstopper
The Blue Angels never fail to impress, and this year was no exception. Flying their iconic blue-and-gold F/A-18 Super Hornets, the team wowed the crowd with synchronized maneuvers, tight formations, and gravity-defying stunts. The precision and power of these pilots left spectators gasping as the jets roared across the sky in perfect coordination.
“It’s unbelievable what these pilots can do,” said one excited attendee. “You see it on TV, but in person, it’s just next level!”

More Than Just the Blue Angels
While the Blue Angels were the stars of the show, they weren’t the only ones turning heads. Other highlights included:
-
USAF F-16 Viper Demo Team – Showcasing the agility of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, a staple of the U.S. Air Force.
-
USMC F-35B Lightning II – This next-gen fighter amazed audiences with its vertical landing and short takeoff capabilities.
-
C-17 Globemaster III – A massive cargo plane performing surprisingly agile aerial tricks.
-
U-2 Dragon Lady – A rare sight in public, this high-altitude reconnaissance plane added a dose of mystery to the show.
-
British Invasion Segment – A special tribute featuring the legendary de Havilland Mosquito and Supermarine Spitfire, two aircraft that played vital roles in World War II.
A Special Tribute to the U.S. Navy
This year’s airshow was extra special as it coincided with Sacramento’s Navy Week, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy. The event was one of only 15 airshows across the country chosen to highlight the Navy’s history and contributions.
The California Capital Airshow has been a Sacramento tradition since 2004, bringing aviation enthusiasts together while supporting scholarships and youth programs that inspire future pilots.
