The Pregnant Woman, the Married Man, and the Silence in Archer

25

On February 18, 2019, a quiet winter night in Archer, Florida, took a disturbing turn. Jasmine Robinson, known affectionately as “Jazz,” had just finished her shift at McDonald’s and was picked up by her grandmother, Miss Rosa Robinson, to return home. After a shower, Jasmine went to her room, and Miss Rosa went to bed, unaware that this would be the last time she would see her granddaughter. The next morning, Miss Rosa woke up to find Jasmine and her phone missing. Jazz didn’t report to work the next day, nor did she attend a scheduled doctor’s appointment. Her sister, Shantavia, reported Jasmine missing on February 20, 2019, but little did they know, this case would soon take a much darker twist.

Jasmine’s Connection to Christopher Wiggins

As investigators dug deeper, they learned that 23-year-old Jasmine Robinson, who was six months pregnant at the time, had been involved in a relationship with 56-year-old Christopher Wiggins, a married man. Jasmine had confided in close friends and family that Wiggins was the father of her unborn child, whom she planned to name Jamilia. But their relationship was far from peaceful. Detectives found heated social media exchanges between Jasmine and Wiggins, especially after his wife found out about the affair and Jasmine’s pregnancy. On the evening of Jasmine’s disappearance, authorities discovered that she had received troubling phone calls while at work. It became apparent that tensions between the two were escalating, and these final exchanges could have been the catalyst for what happened next.

Wiggins’ Criminal Past and Connection to Jasmine’s Disappearance

Further investigation revealed that Christopher Wiggins had a criminal history. On February 13, 2019, just days before Jasmine disappeared, Wiggins and two accomplices were involved in a violent armed robbery at a Bojangles restaurant in Florida, stealing nearly $2,000 and taking hostages. Detectives uncovered that Wiggins had been involved in these criminal activities while Jasmine’s life was unraveling. On the day Jasmine vanished, her phone was tracked to several areas in and around Marion County, Levy County, and northern Alachua County. Despite intensive searches in these rural regions, no trace of Jasmine or her unborn child was ever found. This only deepened the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

The Search for Jasmine Continues

Though Christopher Wiggins was arrested in July 2019 for the Bojangles robbery and sentenced to 11 years in prison, he remains a person of interest in Jasmine Robinson’s case. Jasmine and her unborn child, whom she had hoped to name Jamilia, have never been located, leaving the community and her family searching for answers. Jasmine Robinson is described as 5’2″ tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds. She has brown eyes, black braided hair, and often wears black-framed glasses. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for Jasmine’s disappearance. Anyone with information about Jasmine Robinson’s case is urged to contact the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office at 352-367-4161 or Crimestoppers at 352-372-7867.
