Why a Gaza Engineer Decided to Take a Stand Against Hamas – The Truth Revealed

Gaza City, March 27, 2025 — In the past week, massive protests have swept through Gaza, with many residents taking to the streets to demand change. One of those protesting is Ahmed, a 32-year-old engineer from Gaza City, who spoke out about his decision to join the demonstrations against Hamas.

Frustration With Hamas’ Rule

“I couldn’t stay silent any longer,” Ahmed said in an exclusive interview, speaking on the condition of anonymity for his safety. “We are suffering, not just from the occupation, but also from the policies of Hamas. We want a better future, one where we can live in peace.”

For over a decade, Hamas has governed Gaza, but their rule has sparked growing frustration. The protests are a direct response to the group’s handling of Gaza’s infrastructure, economy, and basic human rights. Many residents believe Hamas has failed to address their needs, instead focusing on maintaining power.

Ahmed explained that despite receiving billions in international aid, Gaza continues to struggle with severe shortages, including electricity, clean water, and high unemployment. Many residents, like Ahmed, feel that Hamas is more concerned with holding onto power than improving their daily lives.

“Hamas’ priorities are not the priorities of the people,” he said. “There’s no real leadership, no freedom of speech, and those who speak out are punished. We can’t keep living like this.”

Calls for a New Government

The protests have only grown in size and intensity, with crowds gathering in Gaza City and other towns across the region. Clashes between protesters and Hamas security forces have led to violence, including reports of arrests and injuries. Human rights groups have expressed concern about the growing repression and the increased militarization of the region.

While the protests are aimed at Hamas, they also highlight broader frustrations within Gaza’s political system. Many protesters are calling for a government that better represents the people, instead of one that prioritizes its own power.

“I’m not against the Palestinian cause,” Ahmed clarified. “I’m against the way Hamas is handling things. We need a government that actually serves the people, not one that uses us for its own interests.”

As protests continue to unfold, the future remains uncertain. But for people like Ahmed, the message is clear: they are no longer willing to accept the status quo.
