Walgreens Customer’s 3-Hour Drive-Thru Nightmare—With Just ONE Car in Front!

39

A Walgreens shopper was left frustrated after waiting a shocking three hours in the drive-thru pharmacy line—despite there being only one car ahead of them.

The incident happened on March 21 at a Walgreens location in Buffalo, New York. The customer, who was expecting a quick pickup, ended up stuck in an agonizingly slow-moving line. Taking to social media, they vented their frustration, sharing their disbelief over the absurd delay.

“I waited THREE HOURS with just one car ahead of me. How is this even possible?” the shopper wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Walgreens quickly responded, apologizing for the inconvenience and asking for details about the store location to investigate the issue. The customer later acknowledged that the pharmacy seemed “extra busy” and praised the hardworking staff, but the situation still highlights growing concerns about slow service at major pharmacy chains.

Walgreens Struggles Amid Closures and Long Wait Times

This isn’t an isolated incident. Walgreens has been facing ongoing operational challenges, including staffing shortages and increased customer demand. The company recently announced plans to shut down 500 stores in 2025, as part of a larger effort to close 1,200 locations and cut costs by $1 billion.

Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth has acknowledged the company is in a major transition, trying to recover from financial struggles while improving customer service. However, long wait times like this one show the real impact on shoppers who rely on their pharmacies for essential medications.

A Repeat Problem for Walgreens?

This isn’t the first time a Walgreens drive-thru has caused frustration. Back in 2019, a 73-year-old woman in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, was so fed up with a slow-moving line that she refused to leave. The delay was so extreme that police had to be called! Eventually, officers convinced her to go inside to pick up her prescription instead.

With stories like these becoming more common, many customers are wondering: Can Walgreens fix its service issues before more shoppers take their frustrations online?
